Hapa Zome
Hapa Zome is the Japanese art of imprinting leaves and flower’s pigment onto cloth. It basically involves lots of bashing!! All you need is a hard surface (a log is ideal), a piece of cloth (a bit of torn up old sheet/pillow case), kitchen roll, a leaf and something to use as a hammer e.g a mallet, hammer or stone. Simply place the kitchen roll (folded into 4) onto your hard surface, lay your leaf or flower on top followed by your piece of cloth and start hammering! It’s extremely satisfying, any age can have a go and remember to experiment. Try different leaves and flowers.
