Forest Holiday Club
This Autumn half term we aim to maintain as much of the child led, fun filled ethos of Yorkshire Forest Folk whilst ensuring a safe, socially distanced environment which minimises the risk of the spread of Covid-19. The risk of transmitting Covid-19 is greatly reduced outdoors and, in addition to the well being benefits that being in nature brings, we definitely believe that the benefits of play in an outdoor, woodland setting outweigh the risks.
We will be creating some natural craft with an autumnal/halloween theme, playing some new games and some old favourites, we’ll be den building, learning some bushcraft skills such as natural fire lighting and simple woodwork techniques. To ensure a safe environment we will have to put in measures that may make our holiday club more activity led than we’d normally like but we aim to strike a balance between having a great time and being safe.
We have maximum 15 children per day who are split into a group of 7 and 8 children. If children are attending on both days they will be put into groups with children who will be attending on the same day to ensure minimal mixing between different children. We have put additional hand washing and cleaning measures in place and children will be expected to socially distance as much as possible. Each child will need to bring their own cup.
Adult supervision
Sessions are led by Sophie and a Yorkshire Forest Folk leader. We have strict ground rules regarding physical boundaries and looking after one another which we share with the children at the start of the session. Our role throughout the day is facilitating play, demonstrating new skills and often playing alongside the children.
