Forest Holiday Club
Our Outdoor Holiday Forest Club days follow the Forest School ethos of child led learning in the beautiful and extensive woodland of Kilburn woods. We are passionate about providing children with the freedom to explore these woods at their own pace, follow their own interests and choose what they would like to do. We always have activities prepared but the children choose.
Over the summer holidays we will be creating some natural craft using resources from the woodland, playing some new games and some old favourites, we’ll be creating natural art, den building, cooking, learning some bushcraft skills such as natural fire lighting and simple woodwork techniques as well as plenty of opportunities for free play, getting muddy and enjoying ourselves!
Our approach means that we never know what will unfold but its always an adventure and invariably involves mud at some stage! Be prepared to be greeted by a grinning, muddy and tired child at the end of the day. You may want to bring a bin bag along at the end of the day for muddy gear!
We have a maximum number of 15 children per day and our adult: child ratio is 1:8. Sessions are led by Sophie and a Yorkshire Forest Folk leader. We have strict ground rules regarding physical boundaries and looking after one another which we share with the children at the start of the session. Our role throughout the day is facilitating play, demonstrating new skills and often playing alongside the children.
